Wounded Amazon
Wounded Amazon reinterprets the classical figure through a close crop that withholds the wound and most of the narrative of battle, centering instead on the Amazon’s controlled physical presence. The raised arm creates a taut diagonal against the long curve of the neck and shoulder, while the exposed torso and falling drapery hold vulnerability and strength in tension. Frost’s restrained palette and layered glazes give the marble surface warmth and immediacy. Wounded but composed, the figure expresses endurance through restraint rather than action.
