A descending arm closes the composition around the torso, while dense folds of drapery accumulate below, making the figure’s stillness feel compressed rather than passive. Controlled tonal transitions distinguish flesh, fabric, and shadow while preserving the sculpture’s physical weight. Detached from public allegory, the figure becomes an intimate image of restraint and endurance, with emotional pressure carried quietly within the body.
